COVID-19 Update 24 November 2020

Current advice to Residential Aged Care Facilities is as follows:

Exclude all staff or visitors:
  • with fever 37.5 degrees or higher, or respiratory symptoms (including fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell), even if mild
  • who have in the last 14 days been identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • who have visited any of the venues at the same time as a COVID-19 case listed on the NSW Government website Latest news and updates
Exclude visitors who have visited the following areas in the last 14 days:
Visitors should undertake hand hygiene on entering and leaving Merton Court, and on entering and leaving the resident's room (or designated visiting area).  Visitors must sign in for each visit preferably using the QR code or the sign in/out sheets. Visitors must wait for staff to check their temperature on arrival and ensure the above conditions are met.
Visitors must supply evidence of their influenza vaccination to be allowed entry to Merton Court.  Visitors should observe cough etiquette and physical distancing recommendations.  Visitors must only visit their loved one in their room or in an outdoor area.  Visitors should not visit multiple residents.  Visits should be booked in advance.

Excursions for residents
Residents can leave the facility to attend small family gatherings, preferably outdoors and wearing masks where physically distancing is not assured.  Residents can participate in group excursions in line with the requirements of current Public Health Orders if they are well planned to minimise contact with other people in the community and held outdoors, eg, a picnic.  Avoid indoor activities or meeting with people from the local government areas listed above.

Merton Court continues to work closely with the Hunter New England Local Health District to ensure our Outbreak Management Plan will meet the needs of our staff and residents should we have a case of COVID-19.
